The 4th issue of our News letter was printed and sent out to all members, this issue was sponsored by RB Services of Unit 4 , 15-17 Roebuck Road.

Articles included were, Xmas Quiz, Spotlight On “ Contact Roller Shutters” , information on Superfast Broadband offer to the members and articles on Health & Safety etc.

The quiz was very well supported and attracted around 70 entries, all prize winners details are on the web site, the prize draw was held at Whistlestop ltd in Roebuck Road , witnessed by their staff.

November 2013
We finished off our current CPC Driver training courses and will be organising some other training days next spring. These courses have proved to be very helpful to the members here and we will continue to offer this training while we can.

The HBP with the help of RB Services organised a CIEH Level 1 Health & Safety training for members, this offered members a nationally recognised qualification.

September 2013
This month we held 4 individual training days for First Aid, this was well supported by the members and we managed to get 40 employees attend and pass the course. We shall be offering further training in the new year, so please ensure you check the web site and the HBP APP on a regular basis.

October 2013
We held our autumn Network event on Thursday 24th October at the Redbridge Cycle Centre , which was sponsored by Hills of Woodford Toyota / Lexus.

The HBP would like to thank Dave Bemment for his financial support for a third year running and has already booked for next October 2104.

The event was very well supported by the members and sponsors of the HBP, we had over 60 people attend.

Presentations were made by Mrs. Bev Stratton from the council re “ Superfast Broadband” funding availability to businesses in Redbridge, this was received very well with a good up take of interest from business owners.

Other interesting points were made by Mr. R. Bradley of RB Services re Health & Safety visits to companies in the area by the HSE.

Also a reminder to down load the HBP APP from the QR codes on the web site or from the HBP signage around the Park.

July 2013
In early July we had a meeting with a representative from FORS – Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme, which is part of Transport for London, the HBP were asked to become an associate member to promote “Best Practice” to the members of the HBP who have either a small or large fleet of vehicles.
There are 3 levels of FORS certification, Bronze, Silver & Gold.

We have been informed that in some cases when trying to get certain contracts from major suppliers business owners can be asked to show that their company is operating a FORS scheme.

During the last month we have been working with a company on the Park called APP Marketing re the design of a mobile APP for your Smart phones, this has now gone live in early July, letters have been sent out to all current members advising them of this new application, the QR codes are now on the HBP web site, also we will be adding the code to selected signage around the Park during July. If any member has any idea to enhance the APP to make it better then please let us know.

We Also Have Put On Again Health & Safety Awareness Course For Directors And Senior Management, Again This Was A Well Supoported And The Hbp  Received Several Very Good Comments Re The Work The Course Covered.

We have started to upgrade are four main entrance signs, the one on the corner of Beaver Rd & Fowler Rd has now been done and the others will be done during July. They have all been in place for several years and the colours are now looking faded.

We Held  A “Role Of The Fire Warden “  Training  On The Buisness Park, This Opportunty For Employers And Employees To Receive An Up Date On Their Role Was Very Successful.

The Annual General meeting was held at the Redbridge Cycle Centre in Forest Rd on the 9th May, invites to all members were sent out in April advising them of the meeting, included in the correspondence were details offering members the chance to serve on the HBP Board of Directors for the next year.

At the meeting a new board of directors were voted in to serve for the next financial year. The Chairman gave his annual report along with financial information re the last years accounts and what improvements and changes had been made during the last 12 months, and up dates on our project work for 2013/14.

March 2013
This month we held two First Aid Appointed Person courses for members, 22 employees attended the training and all passed and are now awaiting their certificates.

On the 18th March we held another days training for Drivers CPC certification, 12 employees attend. There are 5 modules required to obtain the necessary qualification to meet the new DVLA regulations which start in 2014.

Are your drivers being trained ? If not they will need to be, each module is a day’s training and time is running out, without the new CPC certification certain lorry drivers will not be able to work legally !!! and employers will not be able to employ them without the necessary qualifications .

Spring Network Event – sponsored by Nat West Bank – Mr. Adrian Wood

On Friday 22nd March at the Redbridge Cycle Centre in Forest Rd, we held our Spring Network Event, this was well supported by our members and sponsors.

We thank Adrian Wood and the NWB for sponsoring the morning.

We were very fortunate to have the bank’s leading Economist attend and make a speech regarding the Budget and the current economy, thanks to Neil Parker.

Our MP Lee Scott also attended to promote the work he is doing with “Interface” re finding jobs for young local people with various disabilities, information leaflets were distributed to members.

The leader of the Council Cllr Keith Prince was also able to attend and made a brief speech on various item that were happening within the borough.

The directors of the HBP decided to promote the web site advertising banners for members and we were able to produce 3 display banners with all of the current businesses on them.
Members were asked again to have a banner designed for the web site, this is a FREE service, several members are now organising this.

Several members made brief presentations about their businesses and Sarah Swalheim LBR and Cllr Patel were there to give out 2 “Green Awards” to members and also promote this awarding winning project, which is now being offered throughout the borough to all businesses.

Met Police High Visibility Operation
On Thursday 21st Feb, 6 Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team were in place on the junction between Fowler Rd & Beaver Rd , 34 vehicles were stopped , vehicles checked along with Licenses and vehicle insurances, one person was arrested and later charged with other related driving offences at Ilford Police Station. We thank the Neighbourhood team and their Sargent for their time in improving the safety of the area, and we hope that further days will be carried later this year.
